New York State Baroque Orchestra Performance

The New York State Baroque Orchestra will give a holiday concert on Sunday, December 17, at 3 PM at the Kosciuszko Foundation (15 East 65th Street, Fifth/Madison). A reception and carol singing follow. Tickets are $30 / $25, including the reception, and can be ordered at the Foundation Office 212-734-2130. As space is limited and this is a very popular event, early reservations are strongly recommended.

Note: The program will be broadcast on WQXR-FM 96.3 on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, at 6 PM. The broadcast is made possible by the generous support of Adam Bak, of Adamba Imports, importer of Bison Grass Vodka and other fine food products.

The concert begins with music of 16th and 17th century Poland and her European neighbors: Zielinski, Milczewski, and their Italian counterparts Merulo, Palestrina, and Gabrieli. The second half includes works of Corelli and Telemann, as well as 18th century music from Colonial America that would have been familiar to Tadeusz Kosciuszko.

Based in Ithaca, New York, the New York State Baroque Orchestra is one of the premier early-music groups in the state. Directed by musicologist Heather Lardin, the group is dedicated to historically authentic performances using period instruments.
